•Given complete overhaul lasting until 21 Jan 1959
•Name changed on 21 Feb.1959 GRAF SPEE (F215) and acted as cadet school ship for the naval college in Mürwik.
•Laid up 31 July 1964 and deactivated, after planned change the air traffic control ship was not realized.
•Sold 25 Oct 1967 for breaking up by Eisen & Metall KG.
Named after Maximilian count von Spee (1861-1914), Vice Admiral, Admiral of the cruiser squadron 1913. He died when he went down with its flagship Sharnhorst at the sea-battle off the Falkland Islands at 8 Dec 1914
