Gold 15
At the height of Lothian's craze for branding buses it was possible to regularly see branded buses on routes they ought not to have been on. Whilst the concept of branding generally helped the passenger, it hindered them when their branded bus wasn't quite what it seemed !
The colours for service 26 were an attractive red gold and white, gold had been prominent in Edinburgh's colour schemes since 1922 so it was particularly welcome to see it continued on these buses.
Here at Tranent in 2007, Trident 690 suitably dressed for the 26 appears on service 15, which to further confuse the passenger had run for some years in a rather rusty red branding thought to resemble the Mactours livery and dubbed 'macred' by drivers. Service 15, which derives from old tram route 15, was at one time one of the system's busiest, running 7 days from 5am till midnight. However attempts to change it over the years, in particular recent changes to 'express' running have succeeded only in losing custom to the extent it now runs just half hourly and not at all on Sundays.
