When the baking is over, you'll notice that the loaf has pulled away from the pan walls and you should be able to dump it right out. Let it rest for at least a half hour before you cut it with a serrated knife- you don't want it to mash down. Just stop and admire your loaf. You'll know you did right when you put an ear close to the loaf and listen to the crust crackling as it cools- the first of many pleasures a fresh-baked loaf brings!
