2Corinthians12-7-10
So if Satan sent a messenger to torment the Apostle Paul, do we think he wouldn't do the same thing to us? We don't know what this thorn in the flesh was, but it was bad enough that Paul ask God to take it away 3 times. Yet it wasn't taken away. He was allowed to suffer for Christ sake, because God's power is made perfect in our weakness.
Interestingly enough, man thinks he is made perfect in his own power and strength. But no, that's not God's way, that's actually counter productive to what God has in mind. In our suffering, we become more dependent on Christ, and less dependent on ourselves. Our dependents rests on Christ and God will be made perfect in us.
Man wants to be independent, not dependent. Whether it's in the strength of our youth, money, position, beauty, whatever it is in our flesh. It doesn't bring about our dependence on the one who did it all for us. He, Jesus said, "he has given us everything we need for life and godliness." and if we have EVERYTHING we need, what more is there? Our Faith and Trust in Jesus to have supplied everything we need. Regardless of what circumstances may be at any given moment.
We can trust Jesus, to sustain us through his power and love. And remember nothing has come upon you but that which is common to man. Other people have been were you are. Just KNOW that God will protect you from all that satan can bring against you, and it will work together for your good if you love God and trust in him and not you're own flesh. It's all Jesus, and to God goes the Glory, not us. God will be made perfect in our weakness, he will make you strong as a result of trusting in him.
Satan comes against our minds more often than not, because as God has said, as a man thinks, so is he. Which is why satan loves to attack our thoughts. And it seems many times at night while we lay on our beds, and we've had a wonderful day in the Lord. He comes and attacks us, and starts messing with our minds, and keeping us from being able to rest and sleep because of the thoughts he puts in our minds. But JOY comes in the morning, and we are sustained by the love and grace of God through it all.
"7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
13 It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.(2 Corinthians 4:7-18)
