The Nomadic Labyrinth

Originally launched in collaboration with the Manresa Art Gallery in St. Ignatius Church in 2013, The Nomadic Labyrinth is an interactive public art project that integrates drawing and architecture to create a walkable path to explore urban meditation.

For the design of The Nomadic Labyrinth, de la Calzada was interested in the juxtaposition of two different cultural patterns – creating a movable, meditative environment where carpet from archetypical western places like the Ritz Carlton meet an inventive Arabesque floral pattern.

The Nomadic Labyrinth reflects the artist’s vision of creating art that is playfully in dialogue with urban space as well as spirituality, daily life and ritual.

Visitors are invited to explore, walk or meditate in the labyrinth in order to experience art as a transformational tool.
