Common Raven

The largest songbird in North American is the Common Raven ( ).

This young bird had just fledged from that morning. Its siblings were still high up in the nest in a pine.

I stayed with this bird for over two hours hoping that one of its parents would come in. As it began squawking I knew that an adult was close by. It did land briefly on the same branch just after I took this shot but unfortunately for the fledgling (and I) it brought no food.

I was still happy with this begging pose.
