gone but not forgotten

this is the engine shed of the snailbeach district railway , a 2 and 3/4 inch system serving the local lead mines

built in 1877 it was last used in 1950 , when the last 2 locos were cut up outside the shed--the tracks can still just be seen in the grass

from 1923 until a few years before closure it was part of the empire of minor railways administered by the famous colonel Holman fred stephens---the shed has been restored and like so many things today has acquired cctv--perhaps the colonel would have approved !
