Print the images on plain paper. Spray a clear coat (acrylic, enamel, or whatever) on clear plastic, and stick the paper on the wet clear coat. Then spray another clear coat on top of the paper. The paper should be completely wetted with the clear coat to make the printed image translucent. I used inkjet transparency film, which produced a very flexible tab which was easily inserted in the escutcheon slots.
