CIÉ menu card & tariff : catering services - Shannon River services, May 1957 - wine list and catering services, Shannon River

The inside of the May 1957 CIÉ catering tariff and menu card titled for the Shannon River services. I have vaugue memories that the Irish state transport authority ran tourist cruises as part of their organised tours in connection with both train and motor coach services.

It also lists the stations that had restuarant and buffet facilities, noting that this is before the renaming of principal stations in connection with the commemoration of the 1916 Rising, and also that restaurant and buffet cars were conveyed on 'main line' passenger services along with grills, snacks and refreshments on certain 'subsidiary' trains. The usual railway fare is offered, although your river cruise seemed to be without hot scones or pastries, but there was also Guinness as it is good for you! I do like the fact that the 'wine list' doesn't actually list any wine.
