Press adverts for Bamberger & Hertz, Germany, c1936, by Henry Ehlers
Four rather fine press adverts reproduced in an article ont he advertising and publicity of the German store chain Bamberger & Hertz that had been under the direction of their publicity manager E Haller and the artist and graphic designer Henry Ehlers. These four full page adverts are certainly very striking in terms of layout, typography and images. The "Suit Parade" does include a section of 'corpulent' gentlemen!
Sadly the Jewish concern of Bamberger & Hertz, founded in Worms in 1876, was subject firstly to boycott under the National Socialist state and finally into forced appropriation of the business as described in the artcle linked here.
