What Reservist Schneider I's helmet probably looked like in 1901. 1697 was the year the regiment was established, 1897 was not only the Bicentennial of the 117er, but also the year Grand Duchess Victoria Melita was made the Chef of the Regiment on 04 Sept. 1897.
