The Common Lime Butterfly or Lemon Butterfly (Papilio demoleus) is a common and widespread Swallowtail butterfly. It gets its name from its host plants which are usually citrus species such as the cultivated lime. Unlike most swallowtail butterflies it does not have a prominent tail.
The Common Lime Butterfly is found in Southeast Asia, across most of the Oriental region from India and Sri Lanka to Vietnam and the Philippines. It's range continues south through peninsular Malaysia to Indonesia and Australia. The species has also been introduced to Central America and the Caribbean, where it is a pest of Citrus. The widespread range of the Common Lime Butterfly indicates the butterfly's tolerance and adaptation to diverse habitats. It is to be found in savannahs, fallow lands, gardens, evergreen and semi-evergreen forests and shows a preference for stream and riverbeds.
The butterfly is tailless and has a wingspan 80–100 mm. Above, the background colour is black.
A broad, irregular yellow band is found on the wings above, which is broken in the case of the forewing. Besides this the butterfly has a large number of irregular spots on the wing. The upper hindwing has a red tornal spot with blue edging around it.
The butterfly bears a remarkable resemblance (a morphologically similar species) to the African Citrus Swallowtail (Papilio demodocus), but the two species are not as closely related as their appearance would seem to indicate.

De limoen- of citroenvlinder (Papilio demoleus) is een dagvlinder uit de familie Papilionidae, de grote pages. De vlinder komt algemeen voor in het Oriëntaals en Australaziatisch gebied van India en Sri Lanka tot Vietnam en de Filippijnen, en via het schiereiland van Maleisië tot in Indonesië en noord Australië. De soort is ingevoerd in Midden-Amerika en het Caribisch gebied waar de rupsen op de plantages voor een ware plaag kunnen zorgen.
De meeste pages hebben een staart, maar deze is staartloos en heeft een spanwijdte 80-100 mm.
De vlinder heeft een opmerkelijke gelijkenis met de Afrikaanse citrusvlinder (Papilio demodocus), echter de twee soorten zijn minder verwant aan elkaar als hun uiterlijk doet vermoeden.
