Atlantic Salmon Fly Fishing

Besides spending a week with me in Labrador fly fishing the Pinware River for Atlantic Salmon, my son also takes the time every year to come visit for the Father's Day weekend and we spend those three days fly fishing for the King of Fish here on the island as well. If you haven't experienced anything like this first hand, I guess you can still imagine how enjoyable that can be. This year, because of a conference at his work and other work related activities, our annual Father's Day weekend had to be postponed until this past weekend. And what a weekend it was! The weather co-operated. The fish co-operated. The food was excellent. What more could you ask for?

I'd like to share some of that with you.

I've uploaded a still photo and two videos. This still was grabbed from the first video entitled Fly Fishing For Atlantic Salmon. In it, here's what you can see: a nice salmon ... about seven pounds, laying near a rock; the fly ...after it has swung past the salmon and is near the camera just as it is about to be drawn back for another cast; the water surface; the river bottom; and ... if you look closely, two grilse (small salmon under five pounds) laying in front of the rock. Can you see them?

If you're a fisherman ... or fisherwoman ... or maybe neither ... you should have a look at the videos. I've never seen anything like this before!
