La cripta del Duomo di Treviso - Treviso Cathedral's crypt
Le origini del Duomo di Treviso risalgono all’età paleocristiana (VI sec.), quando un edificio di culto venne costruito in una area centrale della città dove, come testimoniano i reperti, sorgevano un tempio, un teatro e, forse, delle terme.
Tra l'XI e il XII secolo l'area assunse l'impianto attuale e lo stesso duomo fu modificato secondo lo stile romanico.
Nel Settecento l'edificio venne pesantemente modificato e ricostruito secondo lo stile neoclassico.
La cripta sottostante il Duomo risale al XII sec. ed è caratterizzata dalla presenza di dieci file di colonnine in marmo, con capitelli di recupero databili probabilmente all’VIII sec.

The origin of Treviso Cathedral (Northern Italy) dates back to the early Christian age (VI cent.), when an adoration building was made in the central part of the town.
Between XI and XII cent. the church was modified according to the romanic style; in the XVIII cent. the church was heavily modified and rebuilt in neoclassic style.
The crypt under the church dates back to the XII cent.; it is characterized by ten rows of small marble columns, with capitals which date back probably to the VIII cent.
