Persistent Waxcap
This Persistent Waxcap (Hygrocybe acutoconica) was photographed in Lincolnshire.
It is the first time I had come across the species. It likes limestone and sandy soils and in this case was in short grassland in the bottom of what used to be a limestone quarry but is now a nature reserve.
Although it is a widespread species, it is not seen frequently so I was pleased to find it.
