Solid Edge ST6 Design Optimization

Solid Edge ST6 now includes an automatic design optimization capability that uses Femap for FEA calculations. This optimization tool lets engineers set a max and min part size and Solid Edge will iterate through that range until the minimum criteria is found while maintaining a specified deflection. The graph in the image shows how Solid Edge tried max and min conditions before finding a balance between deflection and a parts mass. This new capability helps users minimize material costs without sacrificing product quality.
