IMG_5006 - Any Means Will Do . . .

The Philippines is a kaleidoscope of photographic opportunities that are presented every day. Carrying my camera there was a real delight. The variety of subjects was never ending.

Rosey and I spent most of our time in Ibabao, Cuenca, Batangas Province, which is around 80 klms south of Manila, the capital.

However, we did spend some time with Rosey's sister, Letti, and her husband, Willie, on the island of Panay at a little place called San Miguel, near Iloilo. Rosey was born around this area.

Like Ibabao, there are many walks to be had. Unlike Ibabao, this area was very flat and had irrigation canals similar to what we have here in Griffith, NSW, Australia.

I never tired of walking and observing the Filipinos going about their daily routine, whether it be rice planting, carting loads, whatever.

The Japanese built these little motorcycles, around 125-180cc capacity and the Filipinos in their ingenuity, added a sidecar. It has been said on many occasions the Japanese never ever thought their little workhorses could be adapted to such use. I often marveled at this also!!

This is but one example of their ingenuity. I observed this sidecar with its load of bamboo further down the road at a cross roads. The driver wanted to make a left hand turn so his mate got of and with a lot of forwards and backwards they managed to manoeuvre this load around a very tight corner. From the corner to where this picture was taken was a slight rise in the road and the guy with his thumb in the air seated at the back of the driver had to push this load up the hill, the little motor did not have the power. Once on top of the hill they were off again. It is scenes such as this that had me shaking my head on many occasions!!

Even the rooster on the side of the road is intrigued!!! This is a fighting cock and has been tied to a stake so it cannot escape. I consider cock fighting to be a very vicious and bloodthirsty sport and don't like it at all, but that is another story and my own personal opinion. What I do know is that if a cock such as this backs down in a fight, then it is destined for the table, as once it is defeated, it will never ever get up again, so becomes a meal . . .

Thanks for your visits, your warm comments, your faves, and may God continue to bless your journey on whichever road you are taking in this wondrous and beautiful world. Love always and hugs too in abundance, Clive and Rosey xxxxx
