Great White Heron
Great White Herons are simply Great Blue Herons with pigmentation issues - at least by present taxonomic standards; it was formerly considered a separate species. They're native to South Florida, but often wander north after nesting season, sometimes hundreds of miles. They've been recorded here a few times over the decades. Jason Fidorra found and photographed this one at Powers Park, on the south shore of Newnans Lake, on 13 May 2012.
