The temple is adorned with beautiful sculptures of Siva as Ardhanari, Bhikshatana, Umasahita, Gangadhara, Kalari etc., besides other gods and apsaras which is unusual and has few parallels in contemporary Chola examples.
Niche on the south wall has a marvelous icon of Shiva as Veenadhara carrying a Veena, Indian musical instrument. As this icon faces south so this Shiva Dakshinamurthi Veenadhara is a very unique icon.
This great architectural rich temple is maintained and protected by Archaeolagical Survey of India.
