Synthetic Fluorescent Mineral Experiment: Baloneystonite2 - WL

 

FOV: 4" wide.

 

Frozen melted salt containing the Bologna Stone phosphor. Melted on a stainless steel spoon and allowed to flow off spoon.

 

Suspected phosphors: BaO?, BaS:Cu+ in NaCl

 

Contains:

BaS:Cu+ (FL+PHOS! Orange, >BL UVabc)

 

Ba(OH)2 sol. (added as flux)

 

Shown under white light.

 

Key:

WL = White light (halogen + LED)

FL = Fluoresces

PHOS = Phosphorescent

BL = 450nm,

UVa = 368nm (LW), UVb = 311nm (MW), UVc = 254nm (SW)
