Good morning! Cancer update: today will be radiation treatment #16 of 33. I think overall the treatments are going well. I do not understand all the computers and machines it is way over my head.

I did sit with a woman who deciphers the X-rays and sets up the directions of the radiation beams and the length of time each beam hits the lumpectomy area and just above that area where there are nodes under muscle tissue that can not be reached by surgery without causing permanent damage to the arm. As a precaution for the type and stage of my breast cancer they are radiating that area as well.

I have had a sore esophagus the past two weeks and yesterday was more x-rays to try and move the radiation away from the throat a bit. Last night the pain was worse. I have the normal hot feeling to the skin around the area but feel the ointments I have been given really help with the burning. I went to bed and slept for 12 hours. I have taken time off work since Kyle's seizures began. The stress was too much. I know it was the best decision in order to stay focused on my healing. January 1st will be the start of my 10th month of this battle. I have radiation until January 24th and then I start meeting with the medical oncologist again to set up my hormone drug therapy treatments.

I did start Prilosec today to see if it helps the pain in my esophagus and the sores that have developed in the back of my throat. If it continues I need to see my primary care Dr and get a referral to see an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. In my eyes the pain I have been having is tolerable and just a nuisance. Overall I am managing well.
