Nerd News From Kathleen - Fall is in February for the Live Oaks!
The Live Oaks dropped their leaves, in about 5 seconds...well, okay over about a week, but it is remarkable how fast it happens, and how quickly they begin to green up again! I know all you folks up North will be jealous because we really only have to rake, once a year. We have two huge grandfather oak trees in our front yard. From a distance, they make our cars and truck look like toys. They are great protectors. They shade our lawn, roses and plants in the front yard from the hottest periods in our area of Florida. We don't get the pests and weeds that our neighbor's get, and I think it's because of the Oaks. Also we have a septic system...the drain field basically IS a big part of the front yard, and in the words of Erma Bombeck, The grass always grows greener over the septic tank! =o)
