*** Walking alone takes courage

For it feels safer having people around

It feels nicer being surrounded by a friendly crowd, being popular.

Most of us want to be loved

Some work hard on being hated.

But walking your own path

Means burning your boats, your bridges

Sailing unsafe waters.

 

Independence is one high form of courage

Difference is one high form of strength.

 

*** Dedicated to those who are different,

do not obey,

do not conform,

do not accept,

do not bend,

do not break,

do not kneel,

do not follow,

do not capitulate,

declare YOUR independence, before it is taken from you.
