Pointers in Newcastle

A comprehensive signpost for Newcastle’s various attractions and a fruit stall are overlooked by Grey’s Monument (1838). It commemorates Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey (1764-1845), who as Prime Minister between 1830-34 was instrumental in achieving the Great Reform Act of 1832 that brought about much-needed parliamentary reform. The monument stands 133 ft tall.
