Pushing and Pulling...

The American West was settled by pioneers who crossed the plains and the Rocky Mountains searching for freedom, opportunity and a new life...

 

Some came by foot, on horse back, by wagon or by handcart.

 

Every four years our young people spend four days living like their pioneer ancestors. Pulling handcarts, sleeping under the stars, wearing the clothes worn by their pioneer ancestors.

 

It builds appreciation for the sacrifices made by these people who gave up everything they had--even their very lives--for freedom and safety,
