The Commando Monument.
The Commando Monument at Spean Bridge. I've been visiting this since 1956 at that time it was just a monument at a road junction with a small area at the side of the road where you could pull off park and visit with just room for a couple of cars. Now there is a large parking area for cars and coaches a memorial garden and it has so many visitors that you have to be very lucky to get a photograph or even view it without lots of people milling around it. In many ways I prefer it as it was with the three commandos looking across to the hills in which they trained in a lonely quite spot, but progress is progress and at east lots of people now get to remember them and see their monument.
