Oceana blue
First rendering, beeswax cooling
I tore the comb into two-inch pieces and placed them in a stock pot filled with about three inches of water and brought to a gentle simmer. This comb had been used a lot and there was a lot of "trash" that separated out into the water. Given that I have never done this before, there was a bit of a "yuck factor" here, but I got over it. The photo here was taken after the pot was removed from the heat and the beeswax that had floated to the top was beginning to harden. It reminded me of ground beef and fat.
