18 Art vs. Capitolism

ART/ CAPITALISM

I cleaned my slate, ie Read:

Cleaned the Slate

I made a choice:

What Defines IDIOT?

I hauled water and chopped wood:

As An Artist/Conventionality

If you then can’t understand my perception of Artist pursuant to your reading of thosree afore mentioned essays,

then all I have done is talk to myself in these writings,

which means

I’ll say ‘Apples’ and you’ll hear ‘Oranges’ forever.

In a nutshell,

I no longer will marry my Art to Capitalistic endeavor.

Very simple,

I follow,

I don’t chase.

I accept what is offered.

I follow invitation.

I don’t stay where I don’t feel welcome.

I live my art, I don’t work it, And I will not let it work me.

I’ve paid all those

dues that you described as frustrations and blames of your friends and acquaintances. It took over thirty years of my sluggin’ through the same shit as those folks in order to be worthy of the Patron I now have. Talent must be developed to become Art.

Let those people who want the Americanist instant gratification suffer the same lessons and heartbreaks I did.

I don’t have a dribble of heart-bleed or sympathy to offer, I spent all of mine on myself, it cost me everything I loved.I don’t worry bout tomorrow

I don’t put my faith in Social Security,

God is more Certain, he handles my Faith

and he will not Rob from me,

and faith’s there when I need it.

I am no longer the rich man

who stores and stores

and builds bigger barns.

If you’ve got a nickel, you’ve got

150 million people, 4 governments,

three million attorneys,

and a Kitchen Cabinet full of Judges

and a thousand Doctors trying

to figure out how to get it from you,

Usually in little chunks at a time,

and if you find yourself in the ditch,

they’ll demand it all

for their promise to help you out.

I have A few changes of clothes and a guitar.

I’ll never own a material possession

that I would fight to Keep,

I’ll give anybody anything I have if they ask, and,

if I see they need it more than I.

I am happy.

I provide for my needs as is necessary,

the same as I provided for my family,

But my needs are much, much, much simpler

and easier to come by. I like being a Romantic.

I love being a kept man, for I am appreciated

for who I am and what I do.

I pursue my happiness the way I pray for

something, as if I have already received it, for I have.

And I never, ever pray for anything Material.

I accept what is offered, I make do with what I’ve got.

I might produce a few CD’s to sell from my suitcase for sustenance, and for those whom I meet who really want to share my music,

but not for the sole sake of profit.

I’ll use my art in trade for sustenance.

If all that doesn’t shine a light on the issue

you find confusing about my stance

on Money and Art,

You may never understand.
