beast

The room at the end of the hall

seems impossibly tall

it's a quarter inch high

I can't tell you why

the door will not stay shut at all

 

The knob is rusty and old

a window is outlined in gold

and last but not least

within lies a beast

no room on this planet can hold

 

The hallway was once clean and bright

The door, it was locked and shut tight

nothing inside

that needed to hide

nothing to bump in the night.

 

Way down at the end of the hall

he's waiting for someone to call

I'll set the beast free

that's why he loves me

the room at the end of the hall.
