Morganthorn says: The pen strokes used to create this letter are so beautiful and precise, I really admire how steady the hand had to have been to make this. I also like the little red and gold squiggles which add details to the edges of the letter. It shows a wonderful attention to detail.

Morganthorn says: The intricate lines of the letter P appeal to me. I also like the lack of color, it's sort of like looking at a redwork quilt piece where it's all about the thread work, this page is all about the lines.

Morganthorn says: I find it difficult to express how I feel or what I think of pieces like this, its beauty makes me speechless. The artist who drew this was so very talented.

Morganthorn says: When I was "studying" manuscript illumination this type of image was commonly used in the books that were available to me. This style induces nostalgia. The interlocking animal border is very intricate and well done. The muted colors are appealing as well, I wonder what they were like when the page was created.

Morganthorn says: I found all of the images from this set to be particularly beautiful, it was very difficult to choose just one. I chose the Q mostly because if the lines and the little "dragon."

Morganthorn says: The details of the D and the filigree work are so intricate and delicate, the colors are truly beautiful. My love of manuscript illumination began with a letter A on the cover my art history final exam in college, I still gravitate towards letters more than general illustrations.

Morganthorn says: I don't think I have ever seen a more intricate and detailed border than this, it is truly amazing work.

Morganthorn says: I love the design of the f, it's less intricate than the letters I usually like, but the finer details are well done and I rather like the "dragon" head and his "fire" that creates the top of the f.

Morganthorn says: I think the artist who illuminated this manuscript must have had a slightly satirical view of life. I chose this image because I think it depicts a sense of humor about things, it reminds us not to be so serious all the time. There were several images from this book that made me laugh.
