Loch an Eilein

** it was quite a grand day when we went into the Cairngorms National Park. We had a walk along Loch Morlich at Glenmore but the highlight was the beautiful Loch an Eilein. We walked the full 4 mile circumference of the loch amidst ancient pine forests and blooming heather there were wonderful reflections throughout the ramble

Loch an Eilein is a small irregular shaped, freshwater loch in the Rothiemurchus Forest about 3 miles south of Aviemore,in Cairngorms National Park. Loch an Eilein comes from the Scottish Gaelic and means 'Loch of the island'. On an island in the middle of the Loch are the ruins of a small 14th century castle. When I post another shot of Loch an Eilein I will show the castle
