Nga Manu - Bold kaka!
At one point, there was a kaka enclosure that we could go into, so we did. There are three types of very big parrots native to NZ -- the kaka are the smallest and most numerous; the kea is the middle-sized one; and the kakapo, flightless, is the biggest and rarest (not found on the mainland at all).
Kaka are... not shy. Especially young males. This guy flew over and landed on my head immediately.
