Uttarakhand was formed exactly 25 years ago on November 9, 2000. The Prime Minister visited the Forest Research Institute, where he addressed the gathering. Specifically, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various development projects that exceeded ₹8,000 crore in total value. He also launched a commemorative postal stamp to honor the occasion.
The Prime Minister delivered a massive development thrust to the mountain state. In total, he inaugurated completed projects valued at over ₹930 crore. Additionally, he laid the foundation for future schemes exceeding ₹7,000 crore. These initiatives targeted several crucial sectors across the region. For instance, they included drinking water, energy, and technical education. The projects also focused on irrigation, urban development, sports, and skill enhancement.
The Prime Minister also released financial support directly to farmers. Notably, he transferred ₹62 crore into the bank accounts of more than 28,000 beneficiaries. This important funding fell under the central government's PM Fasal Bima Yojana.
