Day 27: Hidden River of London

Many rivers that flowed through London have now vanished as the city has grown. One such river is the Westbourne that ran from Brent to Chelsea, where it flowed into the Thames.

In the 1700s the majority of the river was diverted to form the Serpentine in Hyde Park.

Remnants of the river run through the green clad pipe above the platforms at Sloane Square underground station.
