Found in the Bottlebrush - Tennessee Warbler (Oreothlypis peregrina). Not an Orange-crowned as previously posted.
At 9AM the sun is just peeking through our neighbor's big Stone Pine tree, shining pure, clear morning light onto the top of the Bottlebrush bush. The birds are crazy about this shrub and its beautiful red blossoms.
***UPDATE*** According to the most interesting input from Engilis Photos - see comment below - what I took to be an Orange-crowned Warbler is actually a young of the year Tennessee Warbler!! Evidently a few have been spotted, off course, here in the Bay Area. Tennessee Warblers normally migrate in the eastern US moving from South and Central America where they winter to Canada, where they breed. Here is the link to the Cornell Lab web page.

From the map one can see how the birds that breed in western Canada might easily go off course down the west coast on their return migration. THANK YOU, Andy Engilis.
BTW the species name "peregrina" means wanderer!
