Fall tillage using GPS guidance, accurate within one inch, for ridge-till planting in spring. University of Minnesota, Rosemount Research and Outreach Center. Research by the U of MN, Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES) stimulated commercial applications of precision agriculture, beginning in the late 1970s under the leadership of Dr. Pierre C. Robert, MAES project #25-020. The Precision Agriculture Center was founded in 1995, and headed by Robert until his death in 2003. Research continues by James Bell, John Lamb, Edward Nater and others.
