The “ugly duckling” of the SD40-2 roster, #FEC714, acts as motive power for that days’ Port Train to Dodge Island, hauling 16 loaded wellcars with container loads for destinations in the Caribbean. The engineer and conductor must’ve spotted me and William off in the distance, as they both gestured through the cab windows to the photographers trackside.
