This photo was taken during the last eruption of volcano Etna, on July 15. The position in relation to the winds and the particularly clear sky of that night made possible to photograph, in addition to the volcano, a large portion of the sky north polar region.
On the left of the eruptive crater you can see the constellations Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. The plume rising from the crater is made of smoke and ash. During the night it will cover with volcanic sand the countries of the eastern side of the volcano.
