My parents live in another town a couple hours away. They are both in their late 60s and do not have very good English or the best health either. Normally, I try accompany them to doctor's visits whenever I can so I can drive and translate for them when needed.
My sister lives in Spain and the situation there and other regions is reaching the point that doctors must choose to let patients over 60-65 die because they do not have the equipment to treat everyone. The USA is not prepared for this.
My dad is a stubborn grocery store delivery driver that still works and my siblings and I are increasingly worried about his health. My mom is afraid of even being in the states because of increasing xenophobia and even attacks against East Asians.
Everyone please do not joke about the virus being some kind of boomer killer. These are people's parents and grandparents and spouses. Please don't talk about it as if it is a single region or ethnic group's fault. The virus does not discriminate. Please take this seriously and please stay inside.
