Paul Dawson 2019
Miniature world
Fall of 2018 was a banner year for mushrooms in British Columbia. Foragers rejoiced, and even the local media took note. Suddenly, fungi were everywhere. I had never paid them much mind, but their sheer variety caught my eye, and I began hunting for them on my daily walks. I found this delightfully tiny umbrella of a mushroom (a Mycena?), no more than 1-2" tall, growing in a mossy split-rail fence, awash in autumn sun as the leaves dissolved into kaleidoscopic colour beyond.
