The Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon, one of the largest canyons in the world, is located in the US state of Arizona.
The canyon is up to 1,800 m deep, up to 29 km wide, and stretches for about 450 km.
The Grand Canyon was formed over millions of years by the Colorado River, which carved its way into the rock of the Colorado Plateau.
Most of the canyon is part of Grand Canyon National Park, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.

Der Grand Canyon, eine der größten Schluchten der Welt, die sich im US-Bundesstaat Arizona befindet.
Die Schlucht ist bis zu 1.800 m tief, bis zu 29 Km breit und erstreckt sich über eine Länge von etwa 450 Km.
Der Grand Canyon wurde über Jahrmillionen durch den Colorado River geformt, der sich in das Gestein des Colorado-Plateaus gegraben hat.
Der Großteil der Schlucht ist Teil des Grand-Canyon-Nationalparks, der 1979 von der UNESCO zum Weltnaturerbe erklärt wurde.
