The photo was taken in low light, so even at a relatively high ISO the aperture had to be opened to f/3.2, making it a challenge not only to track the subject laterally but also to keep it at a consistent depth so as to maintain a clear focus. A shutter speed of 1/13 seconds was sufficient to capture the motion blur—any slower made it nearly impossible to track the subject, and any faster made the blur less pronounced. No post-processing adjustments were made to the photo.
