“GUYS WAIT UP” Cole said while running after the gang. Markus wanted to go out to the

woods near Hayden’s house, for a midnight stroll, as he said it. Alex didn’t go, of course, after that night. He told them he was sick. Why would he want to go and hang with a bunch of bugs, on a damp chair and nearly start a forest fire. Hayden pushed away his hair from his eyes, to see what Markus brought in his bag.

“Beer? Really?” Hayden said

“Yeah, so what?”

“So what? You’re only 17!”

“You’re 15, why should I care if we all have a drink?”

“Do you know how terrible that is for you? You’re crazy!”

“Well, I have nothing to live for anyway,”

“I’m not drinking one sip! And you know that’s not true,”

“Fine don’t! What about you Cole?”

“Um… well I guess I could have one beer,” Cole said nervously. It had been hours since they first got to the ‘dopeascope’ as they liked to call it. Hayden realized that Marcus was defiantly tipsy.

“I gotta take a piss,” said Markus.

“Ok dude just go far into the woods please,” Cole mumbled .

While he was walking he heard bushes shake and a gooey sound in the woods. Slowly a more worried look appeared on his scruffy face.

“CRAP! GUYS!” Markus heard a loud bark and then a thump.

“Jesus man! that’s not funny dude! dude?” Markus looked up and saw a tall, black, slimy figure standing in front of him. He thought it was one of the guys trying to scare him at first but then he looked into its white eyes, and its grimy smile. He ran as fast as he could, dodging the tall stiff trees, until he tripped on a surface root, and rammed his head on a tree that had fallen down. He groaned in pain, but no one heard him.

It had been at least 20 minutes since he left and Cole and Hayden were getting worried. They went looking for him. They found Markus lying on the ground with a bloody knee. Cole decided to get some water from the stream near by.

“Just stay here beside him while you wait,” Cole said.

“Ok just hurry.”

He ran down the steep hill with an empty bottle. Once he reached the bottom he saw a slimy foot print on the ground.

“Holy crap what is that?” then like a flash, a huge goopy figure runs past him and into the stream. Cole runs as fast as he had ever ran before, because his life depended on it.
