Using the same candle that I photographed for another project, I took a photo and uploaded it into GIMP and used the Eclipse Tool and the Eraser to cut out the candle from the rest of the photo. Then, I created a new file that was nine times the size of the candle and created nine layers. On each layer I pasted the candle so that it was a floating layer and anchored each one down so that I had a grid of them. Then, I applied a different filter to each layer. I used Cartoon, Slur, Blur, Pixelize, Curve Bend, Oilify, Newsprint, Ripple, and Whirl & Pinch. I like how each filter looked with the flame of the candle in each layer.
