Palma - Castell de Bellver
Castell de Bellver is a building that was built in 1311 during the reign of King Jaume II of Majorca (James II). It was to be the seat of the king and the royal court and to perform defensive functions. Despite its original purpose, Castell de Bellver did not host ladies of the court or royal families. It served as military prison from 17th to 20th century, and during the Spanish Civil War it was the site of public executions. From 1931, the City History Museum was established in the castle. From the top of castle you can admire the panorama of city and parts of island and coast.
It is unique in that this Gothic castle is built in the shape of a circle. All the towers as well as the inner courtyard are also round.

Castell de Bellver jest budowlą, która powstała w 1311 roku za panowania króla Majorki Jaume II (Jakuba II). Miał być siedzibą króla i dworu królewskiego oraz pełnić funkcje obronne. Pomimo swojego pierwotnego przeznaczenia, Castell de Bellver nie gościł dam dworu ani rodzin królewskich. Od XVII do XX wieku pełnił rolę więzienia wojskowego, a w czasie hiszpańskiej wojny domowej był miejscem publicznych egzekucji. Od 1931 roku w zamku zostało utworzone Muzeum Historii Miasta. Ze szczytu zamku podziwiać można panoramę miasta oraz części wyspy i wybrzeża.
Unikatem jest to, że ten gotycki zamek jest zbudowany w kształcie koła. Wszystkie baszty jak również wewnętrzny dziedziniec są także okrągłe.
