X-wing inspired by Brian Tobin ca. 1987
The very oldest X-wing MOC on the Web is the childhood build by Brian Tobin ca. 1983-1984. It's a fine childhood build, but I wouldn't want to build it as an adult despite my interest in X-wings as a showcase for evolving parts and techniques. Luckily, the 9493 X-wing from 2012 can be easily modified to use parts from 1987 and earlier without losing much of its identity. (Note that I'm not restricting myself to colors available in 1987 and before.) In this model, therefore, the wings come from Brian Tobin and the fuselage from 9493, more or less. Inspiration here:
