Justice league: Overlords - Ch 11 (read desc)

So, we're almost at the mid-season finale. Only one more after this, and I can focus my attention on something else for a change. As always, lemme know what you think :D

Victory

"Efas erehwemos su tropsnart". As Zataro speaks the words, he vanishes, leaving Superman clutching at thin air. He looks around the beach, searching for any stragglers. There are none, all transported away by the wizards magic. The corpse of Aquaman still remains though. Superman floats over and stares dispassionately at the corpse. This was...regrettable. He couldn't have possibly known that the Enchantress would choose this moment to make an appearance.

Diana should never have accompanied him here. Before she died, Hippolyta had told Superman about her daughters true origins. She'd told him about Aganos island, Cerce, everything. 'It was only a matter of time' she's said. Rao knows what will happen now. He looks behind him to see the Enchantress clutching at her head, smoke spewing from her mouth and nose.

Diana looks up. The Enchantress is gone, she's back in control. She looked around, taking in her surroundings. She see Aquamans corpse. She looks at her hands, at her sword. Bloody. She's covered in blood. She loses her composure, sinking to her knees. How could she lose control? Who is the Enchantress? She looks up, at Superman. He has descended to ground level and is now standing before her. "Kal, what happened here. D...did I..."

He extends his hand, helping her to her feet. "It's alright Diana. You did nothing wrong. Aquaman attacked me, you got in the way and stopped him. You saved me Diana." He hates to lie, but it is the only way. She can't know what she did. What she is. He promised Hippolyta that he would keep her secret, that as long as Diana lived, she would never know the truth of her origins.

Meanwhile, The lantern has been surveying the battlefield. 'What a mess' he thinks as he floats around, his ring outstretched. This was a mistake. Sure he wanted the resistance stopped, but not like this. He never wanted anyone to die. But now... He looks behind him, at Aquaman. Although he barely knew him, he'd grown up watching him on the news. He seemed so...nice. He was a good man, regardless of what was happening behind the scenes. But now? All that means nothing. Now Arthur Curry is just a corpse, a casualty of war. Still, he lets the ring scan him, just in case there's any hope that he's-

The ring interupts his thoughts. With that, all hope is gone, shattered in an instant. He moves to his next target, Batman. He'd been close to Batman, before all this. Despite their differences, they'd got along. He was brave. 'Too brave' Kyle thinks as he reaches him, ring outstretched.

Shocked, Kyle descends, his feet setting firmly in the sand. What should he do? If he tells the others, they'll take him prisoner. God knows what Supermans capable of. Or Wonder woman for that matter. Batman doesn't look good. Given the ring isn't known for optimism, there really isn't a lot Kyle can do. The burns...they go right through. Kyle can see exposed bone, charred flesh. It's too late for Batman. There's nothing that can be done. He leaves him there. The least he can do is allow him these precious last moments.

"Lantern" Kyles thoughts are interrupted by Superman. "We're done here". Kyle nods in agreement and ascends to join the others. He will never tell them about this. Together, they set off, leaving this mess behind them.
