Rhapsody in Blue

Conrail SA-93 runs light power east through Aberdeen-Matawan station in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve with CSXT GP40-2s 4452 facing east and 4421 (which has a hot Leslie RS5T) facing west. These units are being used to test NJ Transit's new PTC system, which was just cut in recently. The NJT system is similar to Amtrak's ACSES system, which are also fitted into select CSX locomotives such as these former Conrail Geeps. NS locos are fitted with I-ETMS, which renders them incompatible with the ACSES system present on the NJCL, thus banning them leading trains there. NS units are still however allowed to lead on other NJT lines fitted with I-ETMS. 12/24/20
