Cape Dwarf Gecko in a bonsai tree

The underside of their tail has adhesive lamellae, allowing it to act like a fifth limb for climbing. When threatened, they can drop their tail to escape predators. The tail regrows, but temporarily affects their climbing ability due to loss of balance and adhesion.
