Wembury Beach In Summer
This was June 2017 when the temperature rocketed to 32C. We get good weather in south west England but temperatures rarely exceed 30 like they do in the Midlands and south east. This is a spectacular stretch of coastline with dramatic cliffs, diverse wildlife and a beach renowned for rockpooling and surfing. The beach is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The church is St Werburgh's and the main part of the present church was built by the Normans in 1088, replacing an earlier Saxon wooden building. The tower was the last part of the building to be completed, early in the 15th century. In the 1880’s there was a substantial restoration, significantly funded by the Cory family of Langdon Court.
A week prior to this upload I was walking along the headland in the distance across the Yealm in equally sunny albeit cooler weather. A beautiful section of coast.
